Originating as Rugbyshield in 2014, Sportshield is a brand under Exchequer Risk Management that is now an AR in its own right having multiple offerings in the sporting sector. Managing the insurance programs of Premiership football teams down to the small pavilion at the local cricket club.
We noticed a huge void in the market for protecting amateurs players who, in the event of an incident/ injury on the field of play were not being supported by the catastrophe cover offered by the likes of RFU or WRU. We felt that we needed to offer cost-effective medical insurance in order to get players in front of clinicians for scans, x-rays, and surgical treatment where appropriate.
In addition to this, amateur players needed to ensure that they could pay their mortgages and outgoings hence the extension of income protection. For the Professional players, we look after the contract career-ending cover for several internationals.
